As we are all stuck inside due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the team at the Berwickshire Marine Reserve have decided to relaunch their famed Splash In photography competition.

As we are all stuck inside due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the team at the Berwickshire Marine Reserve (formerly the St Abbs and Eyemouth Voluntary Marine Reserve) have decided to relaunch their famed Splash In photography competition.

Katherine Dunsford, the assistant reserve co-ordinator, said: “We thought now is the perfect time to relaunch this competition, under the title Splash Back In, in a bid to raise spirits, and are asking people to dig through their archives and submit photographs and short videos taken within the reserve between 1984 – when the reserve was first established – and now, whether that was snorkelling, diving, rock pooling or just walking.”

There are four categories – Marine Life Portraits, Scenic Images of the Reserve, Most Humorous, and Short Film. The competition will be judged by Lawson Wood, Jim Greenfield, Tim Askew and a Berwickshire Marine Reserve representative. The competition is just for fun, but a trophy will be awarded to the winner of each category.

Katherine added: “Due to the current government advice about how to protect ourselves from COVID-19, we ask that you do not go out to take photographs and films.”
