Marine Mammals

We don't see a huge variety of marine mammals, or cetaceans, within the Reserve, but the few species we do have are quite spectacular. Grey seals are charismatic characters, and each autumn, they descend upon the isolated beaches to the north of St Abbs Head to give birth to their pups. Dolphins and occasionally Minke Whales can also be seen here, with Bottlenose Dolphins sometimes engaging with passing boats if they are feeling playful!
